Welcome to Spanish Pavillion!

The first of many Spanish restaurants in Newark (Ironbound), New Jersey opened in 1963 by our grandparents, Antonio (Jalisco) & Estrella Martinez. They dreamed of bringing excellent Spanish cuisine to the Newark area. It was difficult introducing this new cuisine, but little did they know the effect it would have on dining in New Jersey.

The idea was simple…give the finest traditional Spanish food at a reasonable price with warm, friendly and efficient service. Our grandparents made you feel when entering their restaurant, like you were entering their home. You may have entered as a customer, but you left as a friend.

As the second and third generation continue the family tradition, we want to maintain the same ideas which were taught to us through our grandparents. We not only welcome you as customers to our restaurant, we welcome you as friends & family into our home. Sit back, relax and enjoy some friendly service while your mouth watering meals are being prepared by some of the same chefs who have been with our family for years.

Your Hosts,

Balbina, Jerry and Michael Fernandez

Whether you’re in the area for a show or a game, the Spanish Pavillion is ideally located in New Jersey just minutes away from Newark or New York.  We are proud supporters of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, the Newark Museum, the Prudential Center and the Red Bull Arena and we thank our many loyal patrons who stop by before or after a show, exhibit or any games of the New Jersey Devils, New Jersey Nets, New York Liberty, Seton Hall Pirates and the Newark Bears.
